Dawn Derbyshire Cert CII - Managing Director
Dawn joined Wilson’s in Cheshire in 1991, as a Trainee Insurance Broker. She soon progressed to become an Area Manager for several of their branch offices.
From Wilson’s, Dawn moved to Holman’s, where she gained valuable experience of the London Market and Account Managing hundreds of brokers.
Consequently, when Dawn joined TEn in 2008, originally as the Regional Manager for the northern ARs and as Branch Manager of our Manchester office, she was very well qualified for both roles.
Dawn was subsequently elevated to the role of Broker Support Director and, finally, to become Managing Director of TEn Insurance Services Ltd.
Paul Sykes - I.T. Director
Paul has worked in the Insurance Industry for three decades. His roles have always included broker education, assisting both management and staff to get the most out of the system/software that they are using.
Paul started his insurance career at Brown Shipley, moving next to software house MCS/Sectornet, later acquired by SSP.
Originally employed as a Trainer at MCS, Paul progressed within the Support Department, ultimately becoming Training and Implementation Manager.
After many years Project Managing broker system migrations, including complex data transfers and end user training, Paul joined TEn in 2012 as Systems Training Manager, quickly progressing to I.T. Director.
Colin Halliday Cert CII - Broker Relationship Director
Colin began his insurance career in Glasgow in 1989 with Provincial Insurance, which later became part of the AXA Group.
He held several positions during his time with AXA, including Underwriting and external Business Development roles.
Colin then joined TEn as an AR in 2011, subsequently being employed by the network in 2017, as a Broker Inspection & Development Manager and he was instrumental in establishing the Glasgow office.
Gordon Coles (non-executive chairman)
Gordon has over 50 years’ experience of the London Market, many of them at a Senior Broker or Director level with a variety of Lloyds brokers, including Houlders, Heath’s and Bain Clarkson (AON).
Despite being ‘retired’, he is still widely known, loved and respected in the EC3 environs of The City.
Gordon is also a Freeman of The City of London and, once-upon-a-time, was even voted the Best Dressed Man in Lloyds. He was our first non-exec director and a founding investor in the business since 2005.
Kedric Rhodes ACII (non-executive director)
Kedric embarked upon his career as an insurance broker in West London, during the 1960s; establishing his own business, Sceptre Insurance Services, by 1971.
Sceptre grew to employ 15+ staff - in two locations - over the following three decades and was eventually acquired by NFU (Country Mutual) in 2000.
Kedric was the original Managing Director of TEn, retiring to Spain at the end of 2009. In 2018, he returned as a non-exec.
Daniel Taylor ACII - Broking Teams Manager
In 2010, after leaving college, Dan joined TEn as a Broker Trainee in our then comparatively small Manchester office.
He has progressed from straightforward general administration work at the outset, to become a Broker Technician over several years, to New Business Team Leader and then on to his current position, of Broking Teams Manager & Manchester Office Manager.
He is now ACII qualified, having won the Youngest ACII Completion Award in the Manchester Institute in 2019. Also, in 2019, Daniel won the title of Young Broker of the Year at the UK Broker Awards in London.
James Faiers Dip CII - Insurer Manager
Following university, James joined TEn in 2011, working as a Trainee Broker in the Existing Business Team in Princes Risborough.
He later joined the New Business Team and then on to the IT department, implementing previously unused functionality offered by the Acturis system. After this, he returned to broking, overseeing the broking teams in Princes Risborough from an operational point of view.
His main focus is now on insurer relationships, including development and placement strategy as Insurer Relations Manager.
James is currently working towards his ACII in 2020.
