It is with a mixture of emotions that TEn Insurance Services announces the impending retirement of James Sharp, the last of three original founders from 2005 to have remained in an executive position.
James will be leaving the business at the end of September, although for many years to come, this website (at least) will continue to reference his numerous statements and opinions. There are 15 years’ worth of them and, consequently, it would take weeks/months to try and sanitise them all.
The very last of these pronouncements will now follow, “Whilst I would argue that TEn will not reach its 15th birthday until next February’s anniversary of this website’s opening, for me it has been a project for considerably longer than that. Strangely, I don’t think I will miss it now, because it feels very much like I have played my part, done my tour of duty and this is the right time to move along.
Hopefully, many connections will endure, because it’s not like I am moving to Alaska.
Well… not quite.
My 65th birthday and a new left-hip beckon in 2020, by which time, Mrs Sharp will have us relocated back to her native land. That’s the trouble with marrying a Yorkshire Lass, you can offer them a villa, with panoramic vistas over the Adriatic (or the Aegean), but all they ever want is bloody Yorkshire.
I am sure everybody will do very well with Dawn Derbyshire and what will ultimately become a much younger Management Team; and the company will only go from strength to strength. The reason we restructured the ownership of the company in 2014 in the way that we did, was to allow the business to continue, even after all the old folks had shuffled off.”
Over a number of years, James will dispose of his shareholding to TENT, the Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) that already owns approximately 70% of the company.
