TEn TEam Support Local Charity

Here at TEn, alongside our variety of one-off charity events, we also provide ongoing sponsorship to under-privileged Gambian children, enabling them to get the education that every single child deserves and needs.

Our regular contributions go to Sponsor a Gambian Child, a charity set up locally to our Head Office in Princes Risborough. The charity’s aim is to help the underprivileged children of Brikama and the surrounding areas not only better themselves, but the lives of their families too, via the skills the children will gain.

TEn currently sponsors 3 children ranging from 10-15 years of age - the charity sponsor children from primary school right through to university.

For a very modest sponsorship fee (comparable to a family’s average weekly shopping bill), a child is provided with a years’ education, as well as uniform and shoes on a bi-annual basis. School equipment is also provided to help them every day, plus a hot meal every lunchtime.

TEn have been instrumental in providing the funds to purchase 2 sewing machines, these have allowed some of the local women in the community to set up a cottage industry, producing and providing reusable sanitary wear to girls and women in the surrounding area. This is a sustainable business, giving young women and girls more freedom and confidence to go about their lives and continue their education all through the month. We are very proud to have been able to play a part in this.

Bi-annually we send a parcel of goodies to the children, ranging from stationary/school equipment, toys and games to medical supplies. All of which are in short supply in Brikama, due to the extreme poverty in the area. The children are always extremely grateful for their parcels.

We receive regular updates from the children about how they are getting on with their education and how lucky they feel to have our support.
